The Prizes:

THE BIG OPENING 1st Place:

Whilst a budget is obviously important whilst in production on a feature film, the initial assembly of this is just as crucial when marketing a project to potential film investors whilst in development. A detailed and accurate budget highlighting where the high and low cost areas of a script are, can be significantly important in showcasing the overall value of a film to a potential investor.


2nd & 3rd Place:

Industry Script Coverage report:

An important part in the professional development of any script is the work carried out by a script editor. When first handed a script to work on a script editor will formulate a detailed script coverage report breaking down the narrative strengths and weaknesses of the script along with analysis of character significance, tone, pace, themes and many other editorial aspects.

White Lantern Film – The Big Opening


The Big Opening allows you the chance to write a two-page treatment for a low budget Feature Film, as well as the opening 3 – 5 pages of the Feature itself. The concept of the Big Opening can be defined however you like, so be creative.


The Brief:

2 page Treatment and 3 – 5 pages of the opening sequence of the feature film based around the concept of ‘The Big Opening’.

White Lantern Film:

White Lantern Film is a feature film production company based on the South coast of England. They love film and are passionate about motion picture production. They create content for worldwide audiences with a strong focus on character driven narratives and strong dramatic genres. They have a slate of independent feature films at various stages of development and production. They support talent through B-Reel networking and screening event, operate short film competitions and script development programmes together with opportunities for intern, apprentices and work placement. A strong feature of last year’s festival, we are very lucky to have White Lantern involved again, and this would be a superb chance for anyone to have their work seen by industry professionals.

Olympic


This year the Olympics are coming to London and we’re looking for writers of all ages to submit a script that centres on what the word ‘Olympic’ means to you. You can interpret the word in any way you want so use your imagination and be creative!

The only restriction is that the Script itself must be between 5 – 10 pages and based around the word ‘Olympic’.
